A PROVEN STEP BY STEP, PROCESS FOR MASTERING STILL LIFE PAINTING
A live course that will show you a prove, step by step process for creating successful still life paintings
The approach you taught in this workshop has given me the ability to work accurately AND freely at the same time. I honestly never imagined it would be possible to feel this level of comfort and control, certainly not without many more years of practice
— Cathy Forrest
An intuitive approach to composition - no confusing "rules"
How to nail the values from a photo reference
How to mix realistic and natural colour (and actually get the colour you want!)
Careful edge control to create life and depth
How to oil out each layer before proceeding to the next
Selective refining and finishing to avoid overworking
I've never had a class like this and it was more helpful than I can say!
— Peach McCombe

Yes. Both live sessions will be recorded. You will then have lifetime access to them, together with all the other videos and materials.
The first live session will be on Monday, 27th February. The second session a week after that. Sessions start at 6PM UK time (1PM Eastern, 100AM Pacific) and last for two to three hours. We have a ten to fifteen minute break every hour.
After the live sessions have finished, a further recorded video will be added showing the finish of the piece, so around three weeks in all.
I'll be recommending a specific set of oil paints for you to use. You can use your own of course, but you'll probably get closer to the mixes I'll be showing you if you use the same ones. It's not a huge list. You'll also need brushes - mostly your own choice here - and linseed oil and a solvent. One 9 x 12 Ampersand Gessobord panel too.
The only requirement is a $10 Munsell value scale (which you can get here). If you do have a version of the Munsell book, I will be giving Munsell numbers for the colours, but it's not required.
I'm a painter and teacher living in the heart of the English countryside with my wife, two boys and a cat that constantly demands snuggles!
People tell me I'm good at explaining complicated things in simple and understandable terms.
